What causes this issue?

Error messages should not be able to be output for derivation steps for
grouping characteristics. The indicator causes the account assignment
reference determination to fail if a single rule was not successful. Due
to the fact that several steps are generally necessary to set the
different grouping characteristics, this indicator does not make sense
if used to derive grouping characteristics.

System Response

The derivation step cannot be saved.

How to fix this error?

Remove the check in the box for the characteristics for this derivation
rule.
