Message text: &1 &3 > &2 &3 Spool request queue (in order) exceeds threshold
This queue is specifically for only one spool work proces and only one
output device. It ensures that output requests for spool servers with
more than one spool work process are processed in sequence.
This alert is suggests that you should increase throughput for output
requests by reconfiguring.
If it only occurs for one device, you can remove the selection of
<LS>sequential request processing</> for the output device in spool
administration (transaciton STAD).

RT169
- &1 &3 > &2 &3 Spool request queue (in order) exceeds threshold ?The SAP error message RT169 indicates that the spool request queue has exceeded a defined threshold. This typically occurs when there are too many spool requests in the queue, which can lead to performance issues or delays in processing print jobs.
Cause:
- High Volume of Spool Requests: A large number of print jobs being generated in a short period can fill up the spool queue.
- Configuration Settings: The threshold for the maximum number of spool requests may be set too low in the system configuration.
- System Performance Issues: If the system is under heavy load or if there are issues with the print server, it may not be able to process the spool requests efficiently.
- Network Issues: Problems with the network connection to the printer or print server can cause delays in processing spool requests.
Solution:
Increase the Threshold: Adjust the configuration settings in the SAP system to increase the maximum number of allowed spool requests. This can be done in the SAP Spool Administration (transaction SPAD).
- Navigate to SPAD > Spool Administration > Output Devices > Select the relevant output device > Change > Adjust the "Maximum Spool Requests" setting.
Monitor and Clear Spool Requests: Regularly monitor the spool requests and clear any that are no longer needed. You can do this using transaction SP01 to view and manage spool requests.
- Delete or process old or unnecessary spool requests to free up space in the queue.
Optimize Print Jobs: Review the applications generating the print jobs to see if they can be optimized to reduce the number of spool requests being created.
Check Printer and Network Status: Ensure that the printers and network connections are functioning properly. Resolve any connectivity issues that may be affecting the processing of spool requests.
System Performance Tuning: If the system is under heavy load, consider performance tuning or scaling up resources to handle the load more effectively.
Related Information:
By addressing the causes and implementing the solutions outlined above, you should be able to resolve the RT169 error and improve the performance of the spool request queue in your SAP system.
