How To Fix RSRV073 - Compare sizes of P or Q and X or Y tables for characteristic &1

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: RSRV -

  • Message number: 073

  • Message text: Compare sizes of P or Q and X or Y tables for characteristic &1

  • Show details Hide details
  • Description
The number of entries in <AB>P</>, <AB>X</>, <AB>Q</>, and <AB>Y</>
tables from the characteristic are compared. However, you need the same
amount of entries at any time.
<AB>X</> and <AB>Y</> tables contain the master data information for
the characteristic with internal keys instead of characteristic values.
They are used in reporting. An inconsistency leads to incorrect numbers
in reporting: Missing entries operate like (invisible) filters. The
case of having more entries in the <AB>X</> than in the <AB>P</> table,
or having more entries in the <AB>Q</> than in the <AB>Y</> table,
should not occur and points to serious inconsistencies. Possible cause:
System error when deleting master data.
    Note
It is possible, although unlikely, that this test finds no errors, even
though <AB>P</> and <AB>X</>, or <AB>Q</> and <AB>Y</> tables are
    inconsistent to each other.
    Repair
The <AB>X</> or <AB>Y</> tables are rebuilt in the repair mode. If
errors still exist after the repair, then this points to missing
entries in the <AB>SID</> tables for the navigation attributes for the
characteristic. If you want to check this, use the (elementary) tests.
Type-based initial values for the attribute
Initial values in the <AB>SID</>- and master data tables for a
    characteristic.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSRV073 - Compare sizes of P or Q and X or Y tables for characteristic &1 ?

The SAP error message RSRV073 indicates a discrepancy in the sizes of the P (or Q) and X (or Y) tables for a specific characteristic in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence). This error typically arises during the data loading or data processing phases when the system detects that the expected number of records in the P or Q tables does not match the number of records in the corresponding X or Y tables.

    Cause:

    1. Data Inconsistency: The most common cause of this error is data inconsistency between the fact tables (P or Q) and the characteristic tables (X or Y). This can happen due to incomplete data loads, failed data transfers, or issues during data extraction.
    2. Data Modeling Issues: If there are changes in the data model or if the characteristic is not properly defined, it can lead to mismatches in the expected sizes of the tables.
    3. Data Deletion or Archiving: If records have been deleted or archived from one of the tables but not the other, it can lead to size discrepancies.
    4. Incorrect Data Source: If the data source is not correctly configured or if there are issues with the data extraction process, it can lead to this error.

    Solution:

    1. Check Data Load Status: Verify the status of the data loads for the relevant InfoProvider. Ensure that all data loads have been completed successfully without errors.
    2. Run Consistency Checks: Use transaction code RSRV to run consistency checks on the affected InfoProvider. This will help identify any inconsistencies between the tables.
    3. Reprocess Data: If inconsistencies are found, you may need to reprocess the data load. This can involve deleting the existing data and reloading it from the source.
    4. Check for Data Deletion: Ensure that no records have been inadvertently deleted from either the P/Q or X/Y tables. If records were deleted, consider reloading the data.
    5. Review Data Model: Check the data model for any changes that may have affected the characteristic definitions. Ensure that the InfoObjects are correctly defined and linked.
    6. Use Repair Functions: In some cases, SAP provides repair functions that can help fix inconsistencies. You can explore these options in the RSRV transaction.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction RSRV: This transaction is used for consistency checks and repairs in SAP BW. You can use it to analyze and fix issues related to data consistency.
