  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSO828 - No new BEx transport request necessary, as request &1 still exists ?

The SAP error message RSO828 indicates that there is no need for a new Business Explorer (BEx) transport request because a transport request with the same name (denoted as &1) already exists. This typically occurs in the context of transporting BEx queries, workbooks, or other related objects between different SAP systems (e.g., from development to quality assurance or production).

    Cause:

    1. Existing Transport Request: The primary cause of this error is that a transport request for the BEx object you are trying to transport already exists in the system. SAP does not allow multiple transport requests for the same object to avoid conflicts and ensure consistency.
    2. Incorrect Transport Process: The user may be attempting to create a new transport request when the existing one is still open or has not been properly released.

    Solution:

    1. Check Existing Transport Request:

      • Use transaction code SE09 or SE10 to check the existing transport requests. Look for the transport request with the number indicated in the error message.
      • If the existing transport request is still open, you may need to release it before creating a new one.
    2. Release the Transport Request:

      • If the existing transport request is no longer needed, you can release it. This can be done by selecting the transport request in SE09/SE10 and choosing the "Release" option.
      • Ensure that all objects within the transport request are correctly included and that there are no errors.
    3. Use the Existing Transport Request:

      • If the existing transport request is valid and contains the necessary objects, you can use it instead of trying to create a new one. This is often the best approach to avoid duplication.
    4. Consult Documentation: If you are unsure about the transport process or the implications of releasing a transport request, consult your SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP Basis team for guidance.

    Related Information:

    • Transport Management System (TMS): Understanding how the TMS works in SAP can help you manage transport requests more effectively.
    • BEx Query Designer: Familiarize yourself with the BEx Query Designer and how it interacts with transport requests.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional insights or solutions related to transport requests and BEx objects.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSO828 error and manage your BEx transport requests effectively.
