  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

Either no language field is selected as a selection field in source
system &V2& in DataSource &V1&, or the language field is <ZH>not</>
assigned to InfoObject 0LANGU in BW.

    System Response

The text request does not send a language selection to the source system
and the system cannot say which data the extractor will deliver to BW.
This can lead to the following situations:
The extractor delivers all languages from the source system (with
    generic extractors)
    Error <DS:NA.RSAR527>RSAR 527</> is raised
Runtime error INVALID_TEXT_ENVIRONMENT is raised in format
    "CONVERT_E3_TO_CS*".

    How to fix this error?

Select the language field as a selection field (with 'x' or 'm') in
source system &V2& for DataSource &V1& and assign this field to
    InfoObject 0LANGU in BW.
On the <LS>Update</> tab page in the scheduler in BW, switch on error
handling for cases where DataSources do not contain a language field.
Choose the <LS>Updating Valid Records Reporting Possible (Request Green)
</> option. In the <LS>Terminate After No. of Errors</> field, enter a
value that is larger than the expected number of error records.
The prerequisite for using error handling is that data has been loaded
    using the PSA.

    Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSM1633 - Assign a language field to IOBJ 0LANGU; danger of short dump ?

The SAP error message RSM1633, which states "Assign a language field to IOBJ 0LANGU; danger of short dump," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) when there is an issue with the language handling in InfoObjects. The error indicates that the InfoObject 0LANGU (which is used to represent language) is not properly assigned or configured, which can lead to potential short dumps during data processing or reporting.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Language Field Assignment: The InfoObject 0LANGU is expected to have a language field assigned to it, but it is not configured correctly.
    2. Data Model Issues: There may be inconsistencies in the data model, such as missing or incorrectly defined attributes related to language.
    3. Transport Issues: If the InfoObject was transported from one system to another, the language field assignment might not have been included or properly configured in the target system.

    Solution:

    1. Check InfoObject Configuration:

      • Go to the InfoObject maintenance transaction (e.g., RSA1) and check the configuration of InfoObject 0LANGU.
      • Ensure that a language field is assigned to it. This is typically done in the "Attributes" tab of the InfoObject.
    2. Assign Language Field:

      • If no language field is assigned, you can assign a language field (usually a characteristic that represents language) to the InfoObject.
      • Save the changes and activate the InfoObject.
    3. Check Data Flow:

      • Review the data flow and transformations that involve the InfoObject 0LANGU to ensure that they are correctly set up to handle language data.
    4. Transport Requests:

      • If the issue arose after a transport, check the transport request to ensure that all necessary objects and configurations were included.
      • If needed, re-transport the InfoObject with the correct settings.
    5. Testing:

      • After making the necessary changes, test the data loading and reporting processes to ensure that the error does not occur again.

    Related Information:

    • Short Dumps: If the error is not resolved, it may lead to short dumps (ABAP runtime errors) when the system attempts to process data involving the 0LANGU InfoObject. You can check for short dumps in transaction ST22.
    • SAP Notes: Check the SAP Support Portal for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance.
    • Documentation: Review SAP BW documentation for best practices on InfoObject configuration and language handling.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the RSM1633 error and prevent potential short dumps related to the InfoObject 0LANGU.
