  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message RSDMD157 - & data records deleted in table & ?

The SAP error message RSDMD157 typically indicates that data records have been deleted from a specific InfoObject or InfoProvider, which can lead to inconsistencies in your data model or reporting. This error is often encountered in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BW/4HANA when dealing with data modeling and data extraction processes.

    Cause:

    1. Data Deletion: The primary cause of this error is the deletion of data records from the underlying database tables associated with the InfoObject or InfoProvider. This can happen due to data archiving, manual deletions, or data load failures.
    2. Inconsistent Data Model: If the data model is not properly maintained, it can lead to inconsistencies, especially if the deleted records are still referenced in other parts of the model.
    3. Data Load Issues: If there are issues during data loading processes (e.g., during ETL processes), it may lead to records being deleted or not loaded correctly.

    Solution:

    1. Check Data Records: Verify the data records in the relevant InfoObject or InfoProvider. You can do this by checking the underlying database tables or using transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to analyze the InfoProvider.
    2. Repopulate Data: If records have been deleted unintentionally, you may need to reload the data from the source system. Ensure that the data extraction and loading processes are functioning correctly.
    3. Data Consistency Check: Use the SAP BW consistency check tools to identify and resolve any inconsistencies in the data model. This can help in identifying any other issues that may have arisen due to the deletion of records.
    4. Review Data Archiving Policies: If data is being archived or deleted as part of a regular process, review the policies to ensure that they do not interfere with reporting or data integrity.
    5. Consult SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error message or provide guidance on best practices for managing data records in BW.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench), RSD1 (InfoObject Maintenance), and others that can help you manage and troubleshoot data issues.
    • SAP Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on data modeling, InfoObjects, and InfoProviders.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums to seek advice from other users who may have encountered similar issues.
