R7700
- Compoundings cannot be deleted if high cardinality is activated ?The SAP error message R7700, which states "Compoundings cannot be deleted if high cardinality is activated," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA when you are trying to delete compoundings (which are used in the context of InfoObjects) while high cardinality is enabled.
Cause:
- High Cardinality Activation: High cardinality refers to a situation where an InfoObject can have a large number of unique values. When high cardinality is activated for an InfoObject, it imposes certain restrictions on how data can be managed, including the deletion of compoundings.
- Data Integrity: The system prevents the deletion of compoundings to maintain data integrity and consistency, as compoundings are often used to define relationships between different characteristics in the data model.
Solution:
- Check High Cardinality Settings: If you need to delete the compoundings, you may need to first check if high cardinality is indeed activated for the InfoObject in question. You can do this in the InfoObject maintenance transaction (e.g., RSA1).
- Deactivate High Cardinality: If it is appropriate for your data model, you can consider deactivating high cardinality for the InfoObject. However, this should be done with caution, as it may have implications for your data model and reporting.
- Alternative Approaches: Instead of deleting the compoundings, consider whether you can modify or adjust them to meet your needs without deletion. This may involve changing the characteristics or the way they are compounded.
- Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or notes related to high cardinality and compoundings for specific guidance and best practices.
- Seek Support: If you are unsure about the implications of changing high cardinality settings or deleting compoundings, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis or BW team, or reach out to SAP support for assistance.
