- Compoundings cannot be deleted in InfoObject maintenance (trans. RSD1) ?The SAP error message R7699 indicates that compoundings cannot be deleted in InfoObject maintenance (transaction RSD1). This error typically arises when you attempt to delete a characteristic or InfoObject that is part of a compounded characteristic in the SAP BW (Business Warehouse) system.
Cause:
- Compounded Characteristics: The error occurs because the InfoObject you are trying to delete is part of a compounded characteristic. In SAP BW, compounded characteristics are used to create a hierarchy of characteristics, and deleting one of them directly can lead to inconsistencies in the data model.
- Data Dependencies: There may be existing data or queries that depend on the compounded characteristic, which prevents deletion.
- Active Data Models: If the InfoObject is being used in active data models, such as InfoCubes, DataStore Objects (DSOs), or queries, it cannot be deleted.
Solution:
- Check Dependencies: Before attempting to delete the InfoObject, check if it is part of any compounded characteristics. You can do this by reviewing the InfoObject's properties and dependencies.
- Remove from Compoundings: If the InfoObject is compounded with others, you need to first remove it from the compounded characteristic. This can be done in the InfoObject maintenance screen (RSD1) by editing the compounded characteristic and removing the InfoObject from the list.
- Delete Related Objects: Ensure that there are no active queries, InfoCubes, or other objects that depend on the InfoObject. You may need to delete or modify these objects before you can delete the InfoObject.
- Transport Requests: If the InfoObject is part of a transport request, ensure that the transport is not locked or in use.
- Use the Right Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make changes to InfoObjects in the SAP BW system.
