QS081
- The class char. and the master inspection char. are not compatible ?The SAP error message QS081 indicates that there is a compatibility issue between the class characteristics and the master inspection characteristics in the Quality Management (QM) module. This error typically arises when you are trying to assign a master inspection characteristic (MIC) to a class characteristic that does not match in terms of data type or other attributes.
Cause:
- Data Type Mismatch: The data type of the class characteristic does not match the data type of the master inspection characteristic. For example, if the class characteristic is defined as a numeric type and the MIC is defined as a character type, this error will occur.
- Incompatible Characteristics: The characteristics may have different units of measure or other attributes that make them incompatible.
- Configuration Issues: There may be issues in the configuration of the characteristics in the Quality Management module, such as incorrect settings in the characteristic classes or master data.
Solution:
- Check Data Types: Verify the data types of both the class characteristic and the master inspection characteristic. Ensure that they are compatible (e.g., both should be numeric, character, etc.).
- Review Characteristic Settings: Go to the configuration settings for both the class characteristic and the master inspection characteristic. Ensure that they have compatible attributes, such as units of measure and other relevant settings.
- Adjust Characteristics: If necessary, modify the characteristics to ensure compatibility. This may involve changing the data type or other attributes of either the class characteristic or the master inspection characteristic.
- Reassign Characteristics: If you have made changes, try reassigning the master inspection characteristic to the class characteristic again to see if the error persists.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on configuring characteristics in the QM module.
