  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message PK635 - No control cycle found for material &1, plant &2, PSA &3 ?

The SAP error message PK635 "No control cycle found for material &1, plant &2, PSA &3" typically occurs in the context of Production Planning (PP) and is related to the absence of a control cycle for a specific material in a given plant and Production Supply Area (PSA). Control cycles are essential for managing the flow of materials in production processes, particularly in repetitive manufacturing scenarios.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Control Cycle: The primary cause of this error is that there is no control cycle defined for the specified material in the specified plant and PSA.
    2. Incorrect Material/Plant/PSA: The material, plant, or PSA specified in the error message may be incorrect or not properly configured in the system.
    3. Data Inconsistency: There may be inconsistencies in the master data related to the material, plant, or PSA.

    Solution:

    1. Create Control Cycle:

      • Navigate to the transaction code PK01 (Create Control Cycle).
      • Enter the relevant details for the material, plant, and PSA.
      • Define the control cycle parameters as required for your production process.
      • Save the control cycle.
    2. Check Existing Control Cycles:

      • Use transaction code PK02 (Change Control Cycle) or PK03 (Display Control Cycle) to check if a control cycle already exists for the specified material, plant, and PSA.
      • If it exists but is not correctly configured, make the necessary adjustments.
    3. Verify Material Master Data:

      • Ensure that the material master data is correctly set up for the material in question. Use transaction code MM03 to display the material master and check the relevant views (e.g., Basic Data, MRP, and Work Scheduling).
    4. Check Plant and PSA Configuration:

      • Ensure that the plant and PSA are correctly configured in the system and that they are active.
    5. Consult Documentation: If you are unsure about the parameters to set in the control cycle, refer to SAP documentation or consult with your SAP PP functional consultant.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes:
      • PK01: Create Control Cycle
      • PK02: Change Control Cycle
      • PK03: Display Control Cycle
      • MM03: Display Material Master
    • Master Data: Ensure that the material master, plant, and PSA are correctly maintained in the system.
    • Production Supply Area (PSA): Understand the role of PSAs in your production process and how they relate to control cycles.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the PK635 error and ensure that the necessary control cycles are in place for your production processes.
