  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message PG407 - You do not have a WRITE authorization for at least one infotype ?

The SAP error message PG407, which states "You do not have a WRITE authorization for at least one infotype," typically occurs when a user attempts to modify or create records in the SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) module but lacks the necessary authorization for one or more infotypes.

    Cause:

    1. Authorization Issues: The user does not have the required WRITE authorization for the specific infotype they are trying to access. Infotypes are data structures in SAP that store specific types of information (e.g., personal data, payroll data).
    2. Role Assignment: The user's assigned roles may not include the necessary authorizations for the infotypes in question.
    3. Authorization Object: The relevant authorization object (e.g., P_ORGIN, P_PERSNL) may not be properly configured to grant the required access.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Use transaction code SU53 immediately after receiving the error to check the authorization check that failed. This will provide insight into which specific authorization is missing.
      • Alternatively, you can use transaction code SU01 to view the user's profile and roles.
    2. Review Role Assignments:

      • Ensure that the user has the appropriate roles assigned that include WRITE access to the relevant infotypes.
      • If necessary, consult with your SAP security team to modify the user's roles or create a new role that includes the required authorizations.
    3. Modify Authorization Objects:

      • If you have the necessary permissions, you can modify the authorization objects associated with the roles to include WRITE access for the specific infotypes.
      • Use transaction code PFCG to manage roles and authorization profiles.
    4. Testing:

      • After making changes, have the user log out and log back in to ensure that the new authorizations take effect.
      • Test the transaction again to confirm that the error has been resolved.

    Related Information:

    • Infotypes: Infotypes are categorized by their purpose (e.g., personal data, organizational assignment, payroll data). Each infotype has a specific number (e.g., 0001 for Organizational Assignment, 0002 for Personal Data).
    • Authorization Objects: Common authorization objects related to infotypes include:
      • P_ORGIN: Authorizations for personnel administration.
      • P_PERSNL: Authorizations for personnel numbers.
    • SAP Security: It is essential to have a good understanding of SAP security concepts, including roles, profiles, and authorization objects, to effectively manage user access.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be necessary to consult with your SAP Basis or security team for further investigation.
