  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message P5066 - You are not authorized to display version & ?

The SAP error message P5066 ("You are not authorized to display version &") typically indicates that a user is trying to access a version of a document or data that they do not have the necessary authorization to view. This can occur in various SAP modules, such as SAP Project System (PS) or SAP Controlling (CO), where different versions of data (like project plans, budgets, etc.) are maintained.

    Cause:

    1. Authorization Issues: The user does not have the required authorization object to view the specific version of the document or data.
    2. Version Control Settings: The version being accessed may be restricted or protected, and the user lacks the necessary permissions to view it.
    3. Role Assignment: The user's role may not include access to the specific version or the data associated with it.

    Solution:

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Use transaction code SU53 immediately after encountering the error to see which authorization check failed. This will provide insight into what specific authorization is missing.
      • Review the user's roles and authorizations in transaction PFCG to ensure they have the necessary permissions to access the version in question.
    2. Modify Roles:

      • If the user lacks the necessary authorizations, a security administrator or someone with the appropriate permissions should modify the user's roles to include the required authorization objects.
      • Common authorization objects related to version control include C_PROJ (for project management) and C_PERS (for personnel management), among others.
    3. Consult with Security Team:

      • If you are not able to resolve the issue, consult with your SAP security team or administrator. They can help identify the missing authorizations and make the necessary adjustments.
    4. Check Version Settings:

      • Ensure that the version you are trying to access is not set to a status that restricts access (e.g., locked or archived).

    Related Information:

    • Authorization Objects: Familiarize yourself with the relevant authorization objects that control access to versions in your specific SAP module.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to authorization management and version control for more detailed guidance.
