  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message O3021 - Manually-entered quantity in & is within the high-warning range ?

The SAP error message O3021 indicates that a manually-entered quantity in a transaction is within the high-warning range defined in the system. This warning is typically related to inventory management or production planning processes, where certain thresholds are set to alert users when quantities are approaching predefined limits.

    Cause:

    1. High-Warning Range Configuration: The system has been configured with a high-warning range for certain quantities (e.g., stock levels, production quantities). When a user manually enters a quantity that falls within this range, the system triggers the warning message.
    2. Data Entry: The user may be entering a quantity that is higher than normal or expected, which could indicate a potential error in data entry or a need for review.
    3. Business Rules: The organization may have specific business rules that dictate when warnings should be issued based on quantity thresholds.

    Solution:

    1. Review the Quantity: Check the quantity you are trying to enter. Ensure that it is correct and aligns with your business requirements.
    2. Check Configuration: If you believe the warning is unnecessary, consult with your SAP administrator or configuration team to review the high-warning range settings. They may adjust the thresholds if they are not appropriate for your business processes.
    3. Documentation: Refer to your organization's documentation or guidelines regarding quantity entry to ensure compliance with established procedures.
    4. Training: If this is a recurring issue, consider providing additional training to users on how to enter quantities correctly and understand the implications of high-warning ranges.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any updates or patches related to this error message. SAP frequently releases updates that may address specific issues or provide additional guidance.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes that may help in managing inventory or production planning, such as MB1A (Goods Movement), CO01 (Create Production Order), etc.
    • User Roles: Ensure that users have the appropriate roles and authorizations to enter quantities, as this can sometimes lead to confusion or errors.
