MDG_BS_BP_MLT_AS040
- For characteristic &1 there is already an entry with same valuation. ?The SAP error message MDG_BS_BP_MLT_AS040 indicates that there is a duplicate entry for a characteristic in the Business Partner (BP) Master Data Governance (MDG) system. Specifically, it means that for the characteristic specified (represented by &1), there is already an existing entry with the same valuation, which violates the uniqueness constraint for that characteristic.
Cause:
- Duplicate Data Entry: The most common cause of this error is that during the creation or update of a business partner, the system detects that the characteristic value being entered already exists for that characteristic in the database.
- Data Migration Issues: If data was migrated from another system or if there were bulk uploads, it is possible that duplicates were introduced.
- Configuration Issues: The configuration of the characteristics in the MDG system may not be set up correctly, leading to unexpected behavior.
Solution:
- Check Existing Entries: Review the existing entries for the characteristic in question. You can do this by navigating to the relevant transaction or using the MDG data model to check for existing values.
- Modify the Entry: If you find that the entry you are trying to create or update already exists, you may need to modify your input to ensure it is unique.
- Data Cleansing: If duplicates are found in the system, consider performing data cleansing to remove or consolidate duplicate entries.
- Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings for the characteristics in the MDG system to ensure they are set up correctly and that the uniqueness constraints are appropriate for your business needs.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to MDG and the specific error message for additional guidance and best practices.
