  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The members of the hierarchy level to which you want to change contain
both positive and negative values. The sum of these members is equal to
zero. You have changed this value and now want to distribute the value
to the corresponding members in the lower hierarchy levels.
    This is not possible.

    MESSAGE W672(MA)

    How to fix this error?

In this case, you can only disaggregate the value you entered using the
key figure view. There, you can distribute the key figure in question
(the key figure which you have changed from zero to another value) to
the members, using the function "Disaggregate row". However, the
negative values of the members are lost in doing so (as long as the sum
to be distributed is not negative as well) since the disaggregation is
done using the proportional factors maintained in your planning
    hierarchy.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message MA672 - Disag. only possible from the key fig. view - Members contain neg. values ?

The SAP error message MA672, which states "Disaggregation only possible from the key fig. view - Members contain neg. values," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP Analytics when dealing with disaggregation of data in a planning or reporting scenario. This error indicates that the system has encountered negative values in the key figures that are being used for disaggregation, which is not allowed.

    Cause:

    1. Negative Values: The primary cause of this error is the presence of negative values in the key figures that are being used for disaggregation. Disaggregation is a process that breaks down aggregated data into more detailed components, and negative values can lead to inconsistencies in this process.
    2. Data Model Configuration: The configuration of the data model or the planning function may not allow for disaggregation when negative values are present.
    3. Key Figure Settings: The settings for the key figures in the InfoProvider or planning model may not be configured to handle negative values appropriately.

    Solution:

    1. Check Data for Negatives: Review the data in the key figures being used for disaggregation. Identify and address any negative values. This may involve correcting the source data or adjusting the calculations that lead to negative values.
    2. Adjust Planning Functions: If applicable, modify the planning functions or processes to ensure that they do not attempt to disaggregate data that contains negative values.
    3. Use Key Figure View: Ensure that you are working from the correct key figure view that allows for disaggregation. If necessary, switch to a view that does not contain negative values.
    4. Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help resources related to the specific planning application or data model you are using to understand any constraints or requirements regarding disaggregation.
    5. Data Validation: Implement data validation checks to prevent negative values from being entered into key figures that are subject to disaggregation.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on handling negative values in disaggregation scenarios.
    • SAP Community: Engage with the SAP Community forums to see if other users have encountered similar issues and what solutions they have found.
    • Training and Documentation: Consider reviewing training materials or documentation related to SAP BW or the specific planning application you are using to better understand how to manage key figures and disaggregation.

By addressing the root cause of the negative values and ensuring that your data and configurations are set up correctly, you should be able to resolve the MA672 error and successfully perform disaggregation.
