Message type: E = Error
Message class: KV - Variance Analysis for Cost Centers and Cost Objects
Message number: 182
Message text: Cost estimate does not exist. Material/Plant/Process/Date: & & & &
The system cannot find a preliminary cost estimate for the product cost
collector.
The system searches for the preliminary cost estimate for the product
cost collector under the combination of plant / material / production
process and date.
You intend to do the following on the basis of this cost estimate:
Valuate work in process (WIP) or scrap in accordance with the <LS>
valuation variant for work in process and scrap</>
Calculate production variances
The system cannot perform the desired function.
Check whether the desired cost estimate exists.
You do this by accessing the Product Cost Planning Information System.
If necessary, create a preliminary cost estimate for the product cost
collector.
To do this, go into the change mode of the product cost collector.
<DS:TRAN.KKF7>Proceed</>
If you want to valuate work in process or scrap on the basis of a
different cost estimate, check the valuation variant for work in process
and scrap.
If you want to perform variance calculation using a different target
cost version, check the target cost versions.
Perform WIP calculation or variance calculation again.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

KV182
- Cost estimate does not exist. Material/Plant/Process/Date: & & & & ?The SAP error message KV182 indicates that a cost estimate for a specific material, plant, process, and date does not exist. This error typically arises in the context of cost planning or when trying to perform activities that require a cost estimate, such as production planning, material valuation, or pricing.
Causes of Error KV182
Missing Cost Estimate: The most common cause is that a cost estimate has not been created for the specified material in the specified plant and for the relevant date.
Incorrect Date: The date specified may not correspond to a period for which a cost estimate has been created. Cost estimates are often valid for specific periods.
Material/Plant Configuration: The material or plant may not be properly configured in the system, or the cost estimate may not have been assigned to the correct configuration.
Costing Variant Issues: The costing variant used may not be set up correctly, or it may not be applicable for the material or plant in question.
Costing Run Not Executed: If the costing run has not been executed for the relevant period, there will be no cost estimates available.
Solutions to Error KV182
Create a Cost Estimate:
- Navigate to the transaction for creating cost estimates (e.g., CK11N for single-level cost estimate).
- Enter the material, plant, and other relevant details, and execute the cost estimate.
Check Existing Cost Estimates:
- Use transaction CK13N to display existing cost estimates for the material and plant. Verify if a cost estimate exists for the specified date.
Verify Date:
- Ensure that the date you are using is within the validity period of the cost estimate. If necessary, adjust the date to match the period for which the cost estimate is valid.
Review Costing Variants:
- Check the configuration of the costing variant being used. Ensure it is set up correctly and is applicable to the material and plant.
Execute Costing Run:
- If no cost estimates exist, you may need to execute a costing run (transaction CK40N) to generate the necessary cost estimates for the relevant materials and plants.
Consult Documentation:
- Review SAP documentation or consult with your SAP support team for specific configurations or settings that may be affecting cost estimates.
