Message text: WIP calculation priority must be higher than WIP cancellation priority
The priority of the status determines the sequence the system uses to
select a valuation method for WIP calculation.
You set the following priorities in the standard system:
Priority <ZH>1</> for the status <ZH>PREL</> (partially released)
Priority <ZH>1</> or <ZH>2</> for the status <ZH>REL</> (released)
Priority <ZH>2</> or <ZH>3</> for the status <ZH>DLV</> (delivered)
If the order has both status <ZH>DLV</> and status <ZH>REL</>, the
order is processed according to the method for status <ZH>DLV</>. The
work in process is canceled.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Change the priority.

KQ129
- WIP calculation priority must be higher than WIP cancellation priority ?The SAP error message KQ129 indicates that there is a configuration issue related to the Work in Progress (WIP) calculation and cancellation priorities in the system. This error typically arises when the priority assigned to WIP calculation is not set higher than the priority assigned to WIP cancellation.
Cause:
In SAP, WIP calculation and WIP cancellation are two processes that can occur during the period-end closing activities. Each of these processes is assigned a priority level, which determines the order in which they are executed. If the WIP cancellation priority is set higher than the WIP calculation priority, the system will not allow the WIP calculation to proceed, resulting in the KQ129 error.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you need to adjust the priority settings in the configuration. Here are the steps to do this:
Access Configuration:
- Go to the SAP Easy Access screen.
- Navigate to the configuration settings for WIP. This is typically found under:
- Controlling (CO) > Product Cost Controlling > Actual Costing/Material Ledger > Period-End Closing > Work in Process (WIP) > Define WIP Calculation and Cancellation Priorities.
Check Current Settings:
- Review the current priority settings for both WIP calculation and WIP cancellation.
- Ensure that the priority number for WIP calculation is higher (i.e., has a lower numerical value) than that for WIP cancellation.
Adjust Priorities:
- If necessary, change the priority of the WIP calculation to be lower than that of the WIP cancellation. For example, if WIP cancellation is set to priority 10, set WIP calculation to a priority of 5 or lower.
Save Changes:
- After making the necessary adjustments, save your changes.
Test the Changes:
- Run the WIP calculation process again to ensure that the error has been resolved.
