The SAP error message KJ822 ("No authorizations => values of affected objects set to zero") typically occurs when a user attempts to access or manipulate data in SAP that they do not have the necessary authorizations for. This can happen in various contexts, such as when working with cost centers, internal orders, or other financial objects.

    Cause:

    1. Lack of Authorization: The user does not have the required authorizations to view or modify the data related to the affected objects.

    4. Data Restrictions: There may be restrictions in place that limit access to certain data based on organizational units, company codes, or other criteria.

    1. Check User Authorizations:

      • Use transaction code SU53 immediately after encountering the error to check the authorization check that failed. This will provide insight into which specific authorization object is missing.
      • Review the user's roles and profiles in transaction SU01 (User Maintenance) or PFCG (Role Maintenance).
    2. Modify Roles/Profiles:

      • If the necessary authorizations are missing, you may need to modify the user's roles or profiles to include the required authorizations. This can be done in transaction PFCG.
      • Ensure that the roles assigned to the user include the necessary authorization objects and values.
    3. Consult with Security Team:

      • If you do not have the necessary permissions to change roles or profiles, contact your SAP security team or administrator to request the required access.
    4. Testing:

      • After making changes to the user's authorizations, have the user log out and log back in to ensure that the new authorizations take effect.
      • Test the transaction again to confirm that the error has been resolved.

    Related Information:

    • Authorization Objects: In SAP, authorization objects are used to control access to various functions and data. Each object can have multiple fields that define the specific access rights.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages (message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.

An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
