  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message HRPAYNLLA_EN002 - For income code &1, work relationship type code must be 18 ?

The SAP error message HRPAYNLLA_EN002 typically indicates that there is a mismatch in the configuration of the income code and the work relationship type code in the payroll processing module. Specifically, it states that for the specified income code (represented by &1), the work relationship type code must be set to 18.

    Cause:

    1. Configuration Issue: The income code you are trying to process is configured to require a specific work relationship type (in this case, type code 18). If the employee's work relationship type does not match this requirement, the error will occur.
    2. Data Entry Error: There may be an error in the employee's master data or payroll data where the work relationship type is incorrectly set.
    3. Customizations: If there are customizations in your SAP system, they may not align with the standard configurations, leading to this error.

    Solution:

    1. Check Employee Master Data: Verify the employee's work relationship type in their master data. Ensure that it is set to 18 if the income code requires it.

      • You can check this in the employee's infotype records (e.g., Infotype 0001 - Organizational Assignment).
    2. Review Income Code Configuration: Check the configuration of the income code in the payroll schema or the relevant payroll processing settings. Ensure that it is correctly set to require work relationship type 18.

      • This can typically be done in the SPRO transaction under the payroll settings.
    3. Adjust Payroll Data: If the employee's work relationship type is incorrect, you may need to adjust it in the system. This could involve changing the infotype record or correcting any data entry mistakes.

    4. Consult Documentation: Review the SAP documentation or consult with your SAP HR module expert to understand the specific requirements for the income code and work relationship type.

    5. Testing: After making the necessary changes, run a test payroll to ensure that the error does not reoccur.

    Related Information:

    • Work Relationship Types: In SAP, work relationship types define the nature of the employment relationship (e.g., full-time, part-time, contract). Type code 18 may refer to a specific category that is relevant to your organization.
    • Income Codes: These codes are used to classify different types of earnings or deductions in payroll processing. Each income code may have specific requirements regarding the employee's work relationship type.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on configuration.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it may be beneficial to engage with your SAP support team or a consultant who specializes in SAP HR to further investigate the problem.
