Message class: HRPA_ARCH -
Message number: 108
Message text: Data until &3 prepared for supplementary data destruction
Preprocessing for the destruction of data has been run successfully for
the selected personnel number.
The system has generated a destruction log in the infotype <LS>
Archiving/Data Destruction</> (0283) for the personnel number and has
set the status to <LS>Prepared for Supplementary Data Destruction</>.
This status has been set as a result of the following prerequisites:
A destruction log (data record in infotype 0283) with the status <LS>
Destroyed</> already exists for the personnel number for the archiving
subobject.
The preprocessing program has been restarted for the archiving object
and there is data to be destroyed.
The end date of the new data record in infotype 0283 is identical to the
end date of the existing destruction log data record.
If you have run the delete program, the system automatically sets the
status of the destruction log to <LS>Destroyed</>.
<ZH>Example</>
You destroy data for the archiving object <LS>HR: Maternity Protection
</> (HRTIM_MAT). There are two data records with the following validity:
Data record A: 01/01/2005 - 12/31/2007
Data record B: 01/01/2008 - 12/31/9999
The retention rule for this archiving object states that the data must
be retained for three years after the end of the year (<LS>Starts at End
of Year</> END_OF YEAR).
You run a complete data destruction session with a preprocessing phase,
a write phase, and a delete phase. The system destroys the data until
December 31, 2008. Only data record A is destroyed. Data record B is not
destroyed since it is valid until December 31, 9999. In infotype 0283,
the system creates a destruction log with the status <LS>Destroyed</>
and the end date December 31, 2008.
After the data has been destroyed, data record B is delimited to
December 31, 2008.
You start a new data destruction session for the archiving object
HRTIM_MAT. In preprocessing, the system selects data record B that has
been delimited to December 31, 2008 and therefore fulfills the criteria
for the destruction of data (end date December 31, 2008 and reaching the
retention period of three years).
Since a data record in infotype 0283 with the status <LS>Destroyed</>
and the end date December 31, 2008 already exists, after preprocessing,
the system sets the status to <LS>Prepared for Supplementary Data
Destruction</> instead of <LS>Prepared for Data Destruction</>.
If you use the report RP_PA_ROLLBACK to start a rollback of
preprocessing for the destruction of data, the system recognizes that th
is destruction log data record has been changed and not newly created,
and resets the status to <LS>Destroyed</>.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

The SAP error message HRPA_ARCH108 indicates that data has been prepared for supplementary data destruction in the context of archiving in the Human Resources (HR) module. This message typically arises during the archiving process when the system identifies that certain data is eligible for deletion based on the archiving criteria set in the system.
Cause:
The error message HRPA_ARCH108 is not necessarily an error in the traditional sense but rather an informational message indicating that the data has been prepared for destruction. This usually occurs when:
- Archiving Process: The archiving process has been executed, and the system has identified that certain HR data (like employee records, payroll data, etc.) is eligible for deletion based on the defined retention periods.
- Retention Periods: The data has reached the end of its retention period as defined in the archiving object settings.
- Data Consistency: The data may have been flagged for deletion due to consistency checks or other criteria defined in the archiving strategy.
Solution:
To address the HRPA_ARCH108 message, you can follow these steps:
- Review Archiving Settings: Check the archiving settings in your SAP system to ensure that the retention periods and criteria for data destruction are correctly configured.
- Data Review: Review the data that is marked for destruction to ensure that it is indeed eligible for deletion and that there are no compliance or business requirements preventing its deletion.
- Execute Data Destruction: If you are ready to proceed with the destruction of the data, you can execute the data destruction program (transaction SARA) for the relevant archiving object. Make sure to follow your organization's data governance policies.
- Backup: Ensure that you have appropriate backups or that the data is archived properly before proceeding with destruction, as this process is irreversible.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to the specific archiving object you are working with for any additional guidance or considerations.
Related Information:
If you continue to experience issues or have specific concerns about the data being marked for destruction, it may be beneficial to consult with your SAP Basis or HR module support team for further assistance.

SAP messages fall into 3 different categories: Error messages
(message type = E), Warnings (W) or Informational (I) messages.
An error message will prevent you from continuing your work - it is a hard stop and you need to fix the error before you can proceed. A warning message will stop your work, however, you can then bypass the warning by pressing the Enter key on your keyboard. That said, it is still good practice to investigate the cause of the warning message and address it. An information message will not stop your work and is truly just for informational purposes.
