Here’s a breakdown of the components of the error message:

    • Cause: The error occurs when the calculated Average Weekly Earnings (AWE) for an employee is less than the specified Lower Earnings Limit (LEL) for the relevant pay period. This can happen due to various reasons, such as:

      2. Verify LEL Amount: Confirm that the LEL amount being used in the payroll calculation is correct and up to date. The LEL can change annually, so ensure that your system reflects the current values.
      3. Adjust Payroll Entries: If there are discrepancies in the recorded hours or earnings, make the necessary adjustments to ensure that the AWE meets or exceeds the LEL.
      4. Consult Payroll Policies: Review your organization’s payroll policies to ensure compliance with National Insurance regulations and to understand how to handle cases where employees fall below the LEL.
      5. Run Payroll Simulation: After making adjustments, run a payroll simulation to check if the error persists.
