What causes this issue?

In the current report group there is a report with &V2& columns. If the
number of columns is too large, it can lead to techincal problems. The
maximum number of columns is therefore, limited to &V1&.

Check to make sure your report really should have so many columns. You
may have used a set in the report columns which has a great deal of
value entries, but in the report, you'd like to output only a few
columns with totals values. In this case, you need to set a suitable
level of detail for the affected column characteristic.
