Message text: Unit of measure & cannot be converted to &
You cannot change a unit of measure that is already stored in a record
in the data base. If you overwrite the unit of measure in planning,
the system automatically converts the respective value into the original
unit of measure.
However, both units must have the same dimension, such as time or
length, which was not the case for your entry.
In controlling, you can only define a unit of consumption the first
time you plan a cost center/cost element combination. Use the function
<ZH>"Edit", "Control data"</> for this definition.
You cannot overwrite this definition subsequently. The system will
immediately convert the value as described in point 1 above.
The system does not accept the unit of measure.
Correct your entry. You can display all possible units of measure
using F4. You can check the assigned dimensions in table T006, or
in controlling, use the function described in point 2 to define a new
unit of consumption.

GP109
- Unit of measure & cannot be converted to & ?The SAP error message GP109, which states "Unit of measure & cannot be converted to &," typically occurs when there is an issue with the conversion of units of measure (UoM) in the system. This error can arise in various contexts, such as during the creation of purchase orders, sales orders, or inventory management processes.
Cause:
Missing Conversion Factors: The most common cause of this error is that there are no defined conversion factors between the two units of measure involved. For example, if you are trying to convert from "liters" to "gallons" and there is no conversion factor defined in the system, this error will occur.
Incorrect UoM Configuration: The units of measure may not be properly configured in the system. This can include issues with the UoM settings in the material master or the configuration of the UoM in the relevant SAP modules.
Incompatible UoMs: The units of measure may not be compatible for conversion. For instance, trying to convert a weight unit to a volume unit without a proper relationship defined can lead to this error.
Data Entry Errors: Sometimes, the error can be triggered by incorrect data entry, such as entering a UoM that does not exist in the system.
Solution:
Define Conversion Factors: Check the conversion factors for the units of measure in question. You can do this by navigating to the relevant configuration settings in SAP:
- Use transaction code CUNI to access the unit of measure conversion settings.
- Ensure that the necessary conversion factors are defined for the UoMs involved.
Check Material Master Data: Review the material master data for the item you are working with. Ensure that the UoMs are correctly defined and that the conversion factors are set up properly.
Review UoM Configuration: Ensure that the UoM settings in the relevant SAP modules (like MM, SD, etc.) are correctly configured. This includes checking the UoM groups and ensuring that they are set up to allow conversions.
Correct Data Entry: Verify that the UoMs being used in the transaction are valid and correctly entered. If there are typos or incorrect UoMs, correct them.
Consult Documentation: If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for further assistance.
Related Information:
Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as:
SAP Notes: Check for any SAP Notes related to UoM conversion issues, as there may be specific patches or updates that address known issues.
User Exits and BAdIs: In some cases, custom logic may be implemented that affects UoM conversions. Review any user exits or BAdIs that may be relevant to the process you are working on.
