  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message G01577 - Item &1 is statistical, item &2 is not statistical ?

The SAP error message G01577 indicates a mismatch between two items in a transaction where one item is marked as statistical and the other is not. This typically occurs in scenarios involving financial documents, such as purchase orders or invoices, where statistical items are used for tracking purposes but do not affect the financial postings.

    Cause:

    1. Statistical vs. Non-Statistical Items: The error arises when you attempt to perform an operation (like a goods movement or invoice verification) that involves both a statistical item and a non-statistical item. Statistical items are used for reporting and tracking but do not impact the financial accounting directly.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the system that dictate how items are treated (statistical vs. non-statistical) which could lead to this error if not set up correctly.
    3. Document Type Restrictions: Certain document types may have restrictions on the combination of statistical and non-statistical items.

    Solution:

    1. Review Item Types: Check the items involved in the transaction. Ensure that you are not mixing statistical and non-statistical items inappropriately. If you need to include both, consider whether the statistical item is necessary for the transaction.
    2. Adjust Document Configuration: If the configuration allows, you may need to adjust the settings for the document type or item category to permit the combination of statistical and non-statistical items.
    3. Change Item Status: If appropriate, you can change the status of one of the items to match the other (i.e., make the non-statistical item statistical or vice versa), depending on your business requirements.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's SAP support team for specific guidance on handling this error in your particular context.

    Related Information:

    • Statistical Items: These are typically used for tracking purposes in SAP and do not affect the financial ledgers. They are often used in scenarios like internal orders or project accounting.
    • Transaction Types: Understanding the types of transactions you are working with (e.g., purchase orders, sales orders, etc.) can help clarify why this error is occurring.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional context or solutions.

If the issue persists after trying the above solutions, it may be beneficial to engage with your SAP support team or consult with an SAP expert for further troubleshooting.
