Message text: Resetting data for characteristic &1 based on loaded files
To guarantee data consistency, the system is resetting the data in the
target area of the import. You did not restrict characteristic <ZH>&V1&
</> on the selection screen and, thus, you did not specify a target
area.
To prevent the resetting of data for all characteristic values of
characteristic <ZH>&V1&</>, the program determines at runtime for which
characteristic values data is being imported. The program only resets
the data concerning the values being imported.
This logic is used for the following characteristics:
Dimension
Version
Year
If applicable, modify your selection conditions to affect which data is
reset.
Say, you made no restrictions on the selection screen for
characteristic "version". The file contains data for version <ZH>100
</>. The database contains data for versions <ZH>100</> and <ZH>200</>.
To prevent data loss, the program only resets the data for version
<ZH>100</>.
If you want to reset the data for version <ZH>200</> as well, restrict
the selection to versions <ZH>100</> and <ZH>200</>.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Resetting data for characteristic &1 based on loaded files ?The SAP error message G00584, which states "Resetting data for characteristic &1 based on loaded files," typically occurs during the data loading process in SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA environments. This message indicates that the system is resetting or clearing data for a specific characteristic due to the loading of new data files.
Cause:
- Data Inconsistency: The error may arise when the data being loaded conflicts with existing data in the InfoProvider. This can happen if the new data does not match the expected format or if there are discrepancies in the data structure.
- Data Overwrite: The system may be configured to overwrite existing data for certain characteristics when new data is loaded. If the new data does not align with the existing data, the system will reset the characteristic.
- Data Load Process: The error can also occur during the data load process if there are issues with the data source, such as missing fields or incorrect mappings.
Solution:
- Check Data Source: Verify the data source from which you are loading the data. Ensure that the data format and structure match the expectations of the target InfoProvider.
- Review Transformation Rules: Check the transformation rules defined for the data load. Ensure that the mappings are correct and that there are no discrepancies between the source and target fields.
- Data Quality: Ensure that the data being loaded is clean and consistent. Look for any anomalies or inconsistencies in the data that could cause conflicts.
- Load Settings: Review the settings for the data load process. If the system is set to overwrite existing data, consider whether this is the desired behavior. You may need to adjust the settings to prevent unwanted resets.
- Monitor Load Process: Use transaction codes like
RSA1
(Data Warehousing Workbench) to monitor the data load process and check for any additional error messages or warnings that may provide more context.Related Information:
