Message text: Cost allocation ends in a loop. Please correct.
The planning function requires that all primary costs are able to be
allocated to end cost objects.
End cost objects are<(>,<)> for example<(>,<)> cost centers, from which
no further allocation is defined.
A group of cost objects containing cost object &V1& of type &V2&
(InfoObject &V3&) allocates their primary costs in a cycle, because the
group is not connected to any end cost object.
Therefore<(>,<)> the primary costs of this group are never allocated to
any end cost object.
The system aborts processing of the planning function.
Analyze the allocation factors defined for the group of cost objects
containing cost object &V1& and ensure that the group is connected to
end cost objects.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Cost allocation ends in a loop. Please correct. ?The SAP error message FCOM_PLANNING_CORE124 indicates that there is a circular reference in the cost allocation process, which leads to an infinite loop. This typically occurs in the context of cost planning or allocation in SAP, where costs are being allocated between different cost centers, internal orders, or other cost objects, and the allocation paths create a loop.
Causes:
- Circular References: The most common cause is that the cost allocation paths are set up in such a way that they reference each other, creating a loop. For example, Cost Center A allocates costs to Cost Center B, and Cost Center B allocates costs back to Cost Center A.
- Incorrect Configuration: Misconfiguration in the cost allocation settings or master data can lead to unintended circular references.
- Data Entry Errors: Manual errors in entering allocation rules or cost center assignments can also lead to loops.
Solutions:
- Review Allocation Paths: Check the allocation paths defined in the system. Identify any circular references and modify the allocation rules to eliminate the loop.
- Adjust Cost Center Assignments: Ensure that cost centers or internal orders are not referencing each other in a way that creates a loop. This may involve changing the allocation structure or the way costs are distributed.
- Use Simulation Tools: If available, use simulation tools in SAP to visualize the cost allocation paths and identify any loops before executing the actual allocation.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or guidelines on cost allocation to ensure that the setup adheres to best practices.
- Testing: After making changes, conduct tests to ensure that the cost allocation runs without errors.
