  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message EBR072 - Only batches without orders found for your selection criteria ?

The SAP error message EBR072: Only batches without orders found for your selection criteria typically occurs in the context of batch management, particularly when trying to perform operations related to batch selection, such as during production, inventory management, or quality management processes.

    Cause:

This error message indicates that the system could not find any batches that meet the specified selection criteria because all available batches are already assigned to existing orders. This can happen due to several reasons:

    1. Selection Criteria Too Restrictive: The criteria you are using to filter batches may be too narrow, leading to no available batches being found.
    2. All Batches Assigned: All batches that meet your criteria are currently allocated to production orders, sales orders, or other processes.
    3. Batch Status: The batches may be in a status that does not allow them to be used (e.g., blocked, expired).
    4. Incorrect Plant or Storage Location: The plant or storage location specified in your selection criteria may not have any available batches.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Review Selection Criteria: Check the selection criteria you are using. Try broadening the criteria to include more batches. For example, remove filters like batch status or specific batch numbers.

    2. Check Batch Availability: Use transaction codes like MB52 (List Warehouse Stocks on Hand) or MSC3N (Display Batch) to check the status of batches in the relevant plant and storage location.

    3. Verify Batch Status: Ensure that the batches you are trying to select are not blocked or in a status that prevents their use. You can check the batch status in the batch master data.

    4. Check for Open Orders: Investigate if there are any open production or sales orders that are consuming the batches. You can use transaction codes like CO03 (Display Production Order) or VA03 (Display Sales Order) to check for open orders.

    5. Adjust Inventory: If necessary, you may need to adjust your inventory or create new batches that are not assigned to any orders.

    6. Consult with Colleagues: If you are unsure about the criteria or the status of the batches, consult with your colleagues or the inventory management team for assistance.
