Message number: 205
Message text: &1 &2: Finish constraint conflicts with a predecessor date
When forward scheduling the project element, the system calculated a
finish date based on a predecessor relationship and the duration of the
project element. This finish date occurs after the fixed finish of the
project element.
The system ignores the predecessor relationship and defines the fixed
finish date as the calculated finish of the project element. The system
calculates the start date by using the finish date and subtracting the
duration of the project element from it.
Check whether the fixed finish date of the project element is realistic.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

DPR_SHARED205
- &1 &2: Finish constraint conflicts with a predecessor date ?The SAP error message DPR_SHARED205 indicates that there is a conflict with a finish constraint in a project, specifically that the finish date of a task is conflicting with the start date of its predecessor task. This typically occurs in project management scenarios where tasks are linked with dependencies, and the scheduling of these tasks does not align correctly due to constraints.
Cause:
- Finish Constraint: The task has a finish constraint that is set to a date that is earlier than the start date of its predecessor task.
- Predecessor Relationship: The predecessor task has not been completed or is scheduled to finish later than the required start date of the dependent task.
- Incorrect Dates: The dates assigned to tasks may have been entered incorrectly, leading to conflicts.
- Task Dependencies: The dependencies between tasks may not be set up correctly, causing scheduling conflicts.
Solution:
- Check Task Dates: Review the start and finish dates of both the task that is generating the error and its predecessor. Ensure that the finish date of the predecessor is earlier than or equal to the start date of the dependent task.
- Adjust Constraints: If the finish constraint is not necessary, consider removing or adjusting it to allow for proper scheduling.
- Modify Dependencies: If the dependencies are incorrectly set, modify them to reflect the correct relationships between tasks.
- Reschedule Tasks: If necessary, reschedule the tasks to ensure that all dependencies and constraints are satisfied.
- Use Scheduling Tools: Utilize SAP's scheduling tools to automatically adjust dates based on dependencies and constraints.
