Message class: DPR_SHARED - Development Projects: Messages for Shared Objects
Message number: 202
Message text: &1 &2: Finish constraint conflicts with a successor's date
A constraint is set for the finish of the project element.
During backwards scheduling for the project element, the system
calculates a finish date from the successor relationships. The system
compares the determined finish date (latest finish) with the constraint
for the finish date. The warning appears if the finish date conflicts
with the constraint for the finish date.
The system ignores the successor relationships and sets the finish date
of the constraint as the calculated finish.
Check whether the constraint for the finish date is realistic.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

DPR_SHARED202
- &1 &2: Finish constraint conflicts with a successor's date ?The SAP error message DPR_SHARED202 indicates that there is a conflict with the finish constraint of a task in a project. Specifically, it means that the finish date constraint of a predecessor task is conflicting with the start date of a successor task. This typically occurs in project management scenarios where tasks are linked with dependencies, and the scheduling of one task affects another.
Cause:
- Finish Constraint: The predecessor task has a finish constraint that does not allow it to finish on or before the start date of the successor task.
- Task Dependencies: The relationship between the predecessor and successor tasks (e.g., Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start) is not properly aligned with the defined dates.
- Manual Date Adjustments: If dates have been manually adjusted for either task, it may lead to conflicts with the defined constraints.
- Project Calendar: The project calendar settings may also affect the scheduling of tasks, leading to conflicts.
Solution:
- Check Task Dependencies: Review the dependencies between the tasks. Ensure that the predecessor task is set to finish before the successor task starts.
- Adjust Constraints: Modify the finish constraint of the predecessor task or the start date of the successor task to resolve the conflict. You may need to change the type of constraint (e.g., from "Must Finish On" to "As Late As Possible").
- Re-schedule Tasks: Use the scheduling functionality in SAP to automatically adjust the dates based on the dependencies and constraints.
- Review Project Calendar: Ensure that the project calendar is set correctly and that it allows for the necessary working days for both tasks.
- Consult Project Management Guidelines: If you are unsure about the correct constraints or dependencies, consult your project management guidelines or a project manager for best practices.
