DPR_PROJECT069
- Top-down scheduling is not permitted; project contains summary tasks ?The SAP error message DPR_PROJECT069 indicates that top-down scheduling is not permitted because the project contains summary tasks. This error typically arises in the context of project management within SAP, particularly when using the SAP Project Management (PS) module or SAP Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) module.
Cause:
The error occurs because top-down scheduling is designed to work with detailed tasks that can be scheduled independently. Summary tasks, which are aggregations of multiple tasks, do not allow for this type of scheduling. When a project contains summary tasks, the system restricts top-down scheduling to maintain the integrity of the project structure and dependencies.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can consider the following approaches:
Remove Summary Tasks: If feasible, restructure your project to eliminate summary tasks. This may involve breaking down summary tasks into individual tasks that can be scheduled independently.
Use Bottom-Up Scheduling: If summary tasks are necessary for your project structure, switch to bottom-up scheduling. This approach allows you to schedule tasks starting from the lowest level (detailed tasks) and aggregate the results up to the summary tasks.
Adjust Project Settings: Check the project settings to see if there are options to enable or disable top-down scheduling. Depending on your project requirements, you may need to adjust these settings.
Consult Documentation: Review the SAP documentation or help resources related to project scheduling to understand the implications of using summary tasks and top-down scheduling.
Seek Help from SAP Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for assistance. They may provide insights specific to your configuration or version of SAP.
