What causes this issue?

A number assignment type determines if identification numbers for assets
(of the specified type) must be generated within the system, or be
specified by the user.

System Response

System fails to save number range settings for the asset type if a
number assignment type is not selected.

How to fix this error?

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

Procedure for System Administrators

Select a number assignment type using the arrow on the field. This
arrow lists the possible number assignment types. Collateral Management
provides the following number range assignment types:
<ZK>Internal </>- For each asset type, you must specify a number range
interval. The system assigns a unique ID from this number range
interval to each asset created for the specified asset type.
<ZK>External and Within a Specified Range</>: You specify an asset ID
and the system validates if the ID exists in the number range interval
specified for the asset type of the asset.
<ZK>External Number or Free Text Entry</>: You can specify a number or a
free text of your choice as asset ID. No validations are performed
against entries for this number assignment type.
