Message type: E = Error
Message class: CM_SUB_DATA - Substance Data (Header, ID, Reference, Materials)
Message number: 044
Message text: Units of certain components are not compatible with the search unit
Components affected by the search process were entered with units of
measure for a reference value (= dimension) that are incompatible with
the unit of measure of the search condition. (For example, during the
search, the relative unit "%" (of the reference value "Proportion") was
specified, but the analyzed components were entered with an absolute
unit "kg" (of the reference value "Mass").) Since an internal conversion
for standardization of the units of measure is required for the search,
but is impossible for incompatible reference values, the affected
components are no longer taken into account for the search.

CM_SUB_DATA044
- Units of certain components are not compatible with the search unit ?The SAP error message CM_SUB_DATA044 indicates that there is a compatibility issue between the units of measure (UoM) for certain components in a bill of materials (BOM) or a similar structure and the search unit being used in a transaction or process. This error typically arises in the context of material management, production planning, or inventory management.
Cause:
- Unit of Measure Mismatch: The components in the BOM or the materials being processed have different units of measure that are not compatible with the unit of measure of the parent material or the search unit.
- Configuration Issues: The configuration settings for units of measure in the material master may not be set up correctly, leading to discrepancies.
- Data Entry Errors: Incorrect data entry when creating or modifying BOMs or material records can lead to incompatible units of measure.
- Conversion Factors: If the conversion factors between different units of measure are not defined or are incorrect, this can lead to compatibility issues.
Solution:
- Check Units of Measure: Review the units of measure for the components in the BOM and ensure they are compatible with the search unit. You can do this by navigating to the material master data and checking the UoM settings.
- Adjust BOM: If the components have incompatible units, consider adjusting the BOM to use compatible units. This may involve changing the UoM of certain components or the parent material.
- Update Material Master: Ensure that the material master records for all involved materials are correctly configured with the appropriate units of measure and conversion factors.
- Use Conversion Factors: If necessary, define or adjust conversion factors between different units of measure in the material master to ensure compatibility.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling units of measure and BOM configurations.
