An output block was defined for an MIC repeating group (master group
with instance control) or an MIC:POS repeating group (master group -
positions of instance control). However, symbol EHS_ICBCE, which denotes
the end of the output block, does not occur before the symbol that

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CM_REPORT_TEMPLATE179 - Output block not at end of MIC repeating group ?

The SAP error message "CM_REPORT_TEMPLATE179 Output block not at end of MIC repeating group" typically occurs in the context of Quality Management (QM) and is related to the configuration of inspection plans and the reporting templates used for inspection results.

    Cause:

This error usually arises when there is a mismatch in the structure of the output blocks defined in the reporting template for a Measurement Inspection Characteristic (MIC). Specifically, it indicates that the output block is not positioned correctly within the repeating group of the MIC. This can happen due to:

    1. Incorrect Configuration: The reporting template may not be configured correctly, leading to the output block being placed in an incorrect position.
    2. Changes in Template: If the template was modified after the inspection plan was created, it may lead to inconsistencies.
    3. Data Entry Issues: If the data for the MIC is not entered correctly or if there are missing entries, it can lead to this error.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check the Reporting Template:

      • Go to the transaction code for the reporting template (e.g., QM01 for creating inspection lots).
      • Review the structure of the template and ensure that the output blocks are correctly defined and positioned at the end of the MIC repeating group.
    2. Adjust the Inspection Plan:

      • If the inspection plan is using an outdated or incorrect template, consider updating the inspection plan to use the correct template.
      • Ensure that the MICs in the inspection plan are correctly defined and that their output blocks are in the right order.
    3. Recreate the Template:

      • If the template is significantly misconfigured, it may be easier to recreate it from scratch, ensuring that all output blocks are correctly placed.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or help resources related to QM reporting templates to ensure compliance with best practices.
    5. Testing:

      • After making changes, test the inspection lot creation or result recording process to ensure that the error no longer occurs.
