SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: CI - Plant maintenance task list messages

  • Message number: 256

  • Message text: Op&: Exec.factor and fixed OpQty indicator not possible simultaneously

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You have tried to maintain simultaneously the execution factor and the
    <LS>Fixed operation quantity</> indicator in
    <DS:GLOS.operation>operation</> &V1&.

    System Response

Maintaining the execution factor and the <LS>Fixed operation
quantity</> indicator at the same time in operation &V1& is not
sensible and is therefore not allowed.
The <LS>Fixed operation quantity</> indicator is most useful during a
<DS:GLOS.sub-operation>sub-operation</> if the superior operation has
an execution factor which should not be transferred to the
    sub-operation.
However, you can also set the indicator for the operation if you want
to avoid an execution factor for the operation being entered during the
    transfer of a <DS:GLOS.maintenance_task_list>maintenance task list</>
    into the <DS:GLOS.maintenance_order>maintenance order</>.

    How to fix this error?

Use the execution factor at operation level and the <LS>Fixed operation
    quantity</> indicator at sub-operation level.
If you want to use the <LS>Fixed operation quantity</> <zh>indicator</>
at operation level, you must first reset the operation's execution
    factor to 1.
If you want to use the <zh>Execution factor</> at operation level, you
must first cancel the <LS>Fixed operation quantity</> indicator on an
    operation detail screen.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CI256 - Op&: Exec.factor and fixed OpQty indicator not possible simultaneously ?

The SAP error message CI256 indicates that there is a conflict in the configuration of the operation in a production order or routing. Specifically, it arises when both the execution factor (Exec.factor) and the fixed operation quantity (fixed OpQty) indicators are set simultaneously for an operation, which is not allowed.

    Cause:

    1. Conflicting Settings: The error occurs because the system does not allow both the execution factor and the fixed operation quantity to be active at the same time. The execution factor is typically used to determine how many times an operation should be executed based on the quantity of the product being produced, while the fixed operation quantity is a set amount that does not change regardless of the production quantity.

    2. Configuration Issues: This can happen due to incorrect configuration in the routing or production order setup, where both indicators are inadvertently activated.

    Solution:

    1. Review Operation Settings: Go to the routing or production order where the error is occurring. Check the operation settings and ensure that only one of the two indicators (Exec.factor or fixed OpQty) is activated. You can do this by:

      • Navigating to the routing in transaction code CA01 (Create Routing) or CA02 (Change Routing).
      • Selecting the relevant operation and checking the parameters.
    2. Adjust Configuration: If you need to use one of the indicators, deactivate the other. For example, if you want to use a fixed operation quantity, ensure that the execution factor is not set.

    3. Test Changes: After making the necessary adjustments, save the changes and try to execute the operation again to see if the error persists.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any specific patches or updates related to this error message. Sometimes, there may be known issues or additional guidance provided by SAP.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation regarding routing and production order management for a better understanding of how these indicators work and their implications on production planning.
    • User Forums: Consider checking SAP community forums or user groups for similar issues faced by other users and their solutions.
