How To Fix CB512 - Message is sent to address & using asynchronous RFC

SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: CB - PP-PI-PMA: Dialog Messages for Process Management

  • Message number: 512

  • Message text: Message is sent to address & using asynchronous RFC

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The selected process message is sent to the address &V1& via a
    transactional remote function call (tRFC).
The tRFC ensures that each call is carried out once only. The sequence
of the calls remains the same. If the target system is not active when
the call is carried out, the RFC is repeated according to a repetition
rate and duration which can be defined.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

To get information on the current status of an tRFC, call the tRFC log
    from the message monitor.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CB512 - Message is sent to address & using asynchronous RFC ?

The SAP error message CB512 indicates that a message is being sent to a specific address using asynchronous Remote Function Call (RFC), but there is an issue with the message delivery. This error typically arises in scenarios involving the use of asynchronous RFC for communication between different SAP systems or between an SAP system and an external system.

    Cause:

The error can be caused by several factors, including:

    1. Destination Configuration: The RFC destination may not be correctly configured in the SAP system. This includes incorrect settings for the target system or missing parameters.

    2. Network Issues: There may be network connectivity issues preventing the message from being sent to the specified address.

    3. Authorization Issues: The user or system trying to send the message may not have the necessary authorizations to perform the action.

    4. System Load: High system load or performance issues may cause delays or failures in processing asynchronous RFC calls.

    5. Message Format: The message being sent may not conform to the expected format, leading to delivery issues.

    Solution:

To resolve the CB512 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check RFC Destination:

      • Go to transaction SM59 and verify the configuration of the RFC destination. Ensure that the target system is correctly defined and reachable.
    2. Test Connectivity:

      • Use the "Connection Test" feature in SM59 to check if the connection to the target system is working properly.
    3. Review Authorizations:

      • Ensure that the user or system has the necessary authorizations to send messages via asynchronous RFC. Check roles and profiles assigned to the user.
    4. Monitor System Performance:

      • Check the performance of the SAP system. Use transaction SM50 or SM66 to monitor active processes and identify any bottlenecks.
    5. Check Message Format:

      • Review the message being sent to ensure it adheres to the expected format and contains all required fields.
    6. Review Logs:

      • Check the application logs (transaction SLG1) for any additional error messages or details that may provide more context about the failure.
    7. Consult SAP Notes:

      • Search for relevant SAP Notes in the SAP Support Portal that may address known issues related to the CB512 error.

    Related Information:

    • Asynchronous RFC: Asynchronous RFC allows for non-blocking communication between SAP systems, meaning that the sender does not wait for a response from the receiver.
    • Monitoring Tools: Use transaction SMQ1 (for outbound queues) and SMQ2 (for inbound queues) to monitor the status of queued messages and identify any that are stuck or failed.
    • SAP Basis Team: If the issue persists, it may be necessary to involve your SAP Basis team for deeper analysis and troubleshooting.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the underlying cause of the CB512 error message in your SAP environment.
