This error typically arises when the system is trying to process a movement type that is not allowed for automatic ordering. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:

    Cause:

    1. Movement Type Restrictions: The movement type specified (denoted by &1 in the error message) is not configured to allow automatic ordering. This can happen if the movement type is not set up correctly in the system or if it is restricted for certain operations.
    2. Configuration Issues: The configuration settings in the Material Management (MM) module may not allow for the specific movement type to be used in automatic ordering scenarios.
    3. Material Master Settings: The material master record may have settings that prevent the use of certain movement types for automatic ordering.

    Solution:

    1. Check Movement Type Configuration:

      • Go to the transaction code OMJJ to check the configuration of movement types.
      • Ensure that the movement type you are trying to use is allowed for automatic ordering. You may need to adjust the settings if it is not.
    2. Review Material Master Settings:

      • Use transaction code MM03 to view the material master record.
      • Check the relevant views (like Purchasing, MRP, etc.) to ensure that the settings are appropriate for automatic ordering.
    3. Adjust Automatic Ordering Settings:

      • If necessary, adjust the settings for automatic ordering in the configuration. This can be done in the transaction code SPRO under the relevant MM configuration sections.
    4. Consult Documentation:

      • Review SAP documentation or help files related to movement types and automatic ordering to ensure compliance with best practices.
    5. Testing:

      • After making changes, perform a test to see if the error persists. If it does, further investigation may be required.

    Related Information:

    • Movement Types: Movement types in SAP are used to define the type of stock movement (e.g., goods receipt, goods issue, transfer postings). Each movement type has specific settings that determine how it behaves in various scenarios.
    • Automatic Ordering: This feature in SAP allows for the automatic generation of purchase orders based on stock levels and demand forecasts. It is crucial that the movement types used in this process are correctly configured.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on movement type configurations.
