Distribute the depreciation simulation data using 100 %, or use amounts

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AY409 - Carry out complete percentage distribution (100 percent) ?

The SAP error message AY409, which states "Carry out complete percentage distribution (100 percent)," typically occurs in the context of asset accounting, particularly when dealing with the distribution of costs or values across different cost centers or internal orders. This error indicates that the total percentage distribution of the values being allocated does not equal 100%.

    Cause:

    1. Incomplete Distribution: The percentages assigned to various cost centers or internal orders do not sum up to 100%. For example, if you are trying to distribute a cost of 1000 across three cost centers with percentages of 50%, 30%, and 20%, the total would be 100%, which is correct. However, if the percentages were 50%, 30%, and 10%, the total would be only 90%, leading to this error.

    2. Incorrect Configuration: There may be an issue with the configuration of the distribution rules in the asset accounting settings.

    3. Data Entry Error: Manual entry errors when inputting the distribution percentages can lead to this issue.

    Solution:

    1. Check Distribution Percentages: Review the distribution percentages assigned to the relevant cost centers or internal orders. Ensure that they sum up to 100%. Adjust any incorrect percentages accordingly.

    2. Review Configuration: If the issue persists, check the configuration settings in the asset accounting module to ensure that the distribution rules are set up correctly.

    3. Re-enter Data: If the error is due to a data entry mistake, re-enter the distribution percentages ensuring they total 100%.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the distribution process in your version of SAP.

    5. Testing: After making adjustments, test the distribution process again to ensure that the error does not reoccur.
