  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

You want the appropriation request to have the same number as the
internal order, and have chosen the 'create order' function.
Order &V2& already exists and has the same number as appropriation
request &V2&. However, the system now creates a new order with order
    type &V1& that you selected.

    System Response

When you press <ZH>Enter</> the system tries to create the order again
    with order type &V1&.

    How to fix this error?

    Check order type &V1&.
Since an order already exists with order number &V2&, you have to use
internal number assignment for order type &V1&.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AO228 - Another order is being created with order category &1 ?

The SAP error message AO228 ("Another order is being created with order category &1") typically occurs in the context of the SAP Controlling (CO) module, particularly when dealing with internal orders. This error indicates that there is an attempt to create a new internal order while another order of the same category is already being processed or created.

    Cause:

    1. Concurrent Order Creation: The most common cause of this error is that there is already an internal order being created with the same order category. This can happen if multiple users are trying to create orders simultaneously or if a previous order creation process has not been completed.
    2. System Locking: SAP uses locking mechanisms to prevent data inconsistencies. If an order is being processed, the system may lock that order category, preventing new orders from being created until the lock is released.
    3. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the order management that restrict the creation of multiple orders of the same category.

    Solution:

    1. Check for Existing Orders: Verify if there is already an order being created with the same category. You can do this by checking the internal order list or using transaction codes like KO03 (Display Order) to see if an order exists.
    2. Wait and Retry: If another user is creating an order, you may need to wait until that process is completed. Once the lock is released, you can attempt to create the order again.
    3. Transaction Monitoring: Use transaction SM12 to check for any locks on the order category. If you find a lock that is no longer needed, you may need to contact your SAP Basis team to release it.
    4. Review Configuration: If this issue occurs frequently, it may be worth reviewing the configuration settings for internal orders in the SAP system to ensure they are set up correctly and that there are no restrictions that could be causing this error.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as KO01 (Create Order), KO02 (Change Order), KO03 (Display Order), and SM12 (Display and Manage Locks).
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message. SAP Notes can provide additional insights or solutions.
    • User Training: Ensure that users are trained on the proper procedures for creating internal orders to minimize the chances of concurrent order creation.

If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, it may be necessary to involve your SAP support team for further investigation.
