Message text: Order w. relationship - Operation number must be unique in CMC (&1)
The CMC has detected an order with relationships in which the operation
sequence is not equal to the operation number. The current error was
triggered, because the same operation number is used in more than one
of the linked orders. This is not permitted when linking orders. When
linking one order to another, the operation numbers within the grouping
must be unique.
<(>&<)>EXAMPLE<(>&<)>
Order A has operations 10 and 20. Order B has 20 and 30. This is not
permitted. A correct relationship would exist, when order A has
operations 10 and 20, and order B has 30 and 40 (linking operations 20
and 30).
Orders are treated seperately, but no CMC calculations are performed.
Correct the operation numbers within the relationship, so that the
operation numbers become unique within the group. When this is done,
the CMC will treat linked orders as one.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

ADPTM188
- Order w. relationship - Operation number must be unique in CMC (&1) ?The SAP error message ADPTM188 indicates that there is an issue with the operation numbers in a production order or a related document in the Capacity Management (CMC) module. Specifically, it states that the operation number must be unique within the context of the order that has a relationship.
Cause:
The error typically arises due to one of the following reasons:
- Duplicate Operation Numbers: The same operation number is being used more than once within the same order or related orders. This can happen if operations are copied or if there is a mistake in manual entry.
- Incorrect Order Relationships: If there are relationships defined between orders (for example, dependent or predecessor/successor relationships), the operation numbers must be unique across these related orders.
- Data Integrity Issues: There may be inconsistencies in the data due to previous errors or incorrect configurations in the system.
Solution:
To resolve the error, you can take the following steps:
Check Operation Numbers:
- Review the operations in the order to ensure that each operation number is unique. You can do this by navigating to the order in the SAP GUI and checking the operations tab.
- If you find duplicate operation numbers, you will need to change them to ensure uniqueness.
Review Order Relationships:
- If the order has relationships with other orders, check those relationships to ensure that operation numbers do not conflict. Adjust the operation numbers as necessary.
Data Consistency Check:
- Run a consistency check on the order data to identify any other potential issues that may be causing the error. This can often be done through transaction codes like CO02 (Change Order) or CO03 (Display Order).
Consult Documentation:
- Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on managing operations and relationships in production orders.
Contact Support:
- If the issue persists after checking for duplicates and reviewing relationships, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.
