  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AA379 - Partial retirement or transfer of current-yr acquis. not possible ?

The SAP error message AA379 ("Partial retirement or transfer of current-year acquisition not possible") typically occurs in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) module when you attempt to perform a partial retirement or transfer of an asset that has current-year acquisitions. This error indicates that the system does not allow such operations on assets that have been acquired in the current fiscal year.

    Cause:

    1. Current-Year Acquisition: The asset has acquisitions that were posted in the current fiscal year, and SAP restricts partial retirements or transfers for these assets to maintain the integrity of financial reporting.
    2. Asset Status: The asset may be in a status that does not allow for partial retirement or transfer.
    3. Configuration Settings: The system configuration may restrict certain operations on assets with current-year acquisitions.

    Solution:

    1. Wait Until Next Fiscal Year: If possible, wait until the next fiscal year to perform the partial retirement or transfer. This is the simplest solution if the asset can remain in its current state until then.
    2. Full Retirement or Transfer: If immediate action is required, consider performing a full retirement or transfer of the asset instead of a partial one.
    3. Check Asset Transactions: Review the asset's transaction history to ensure that there are no pending transactions that could be causing the issue.
    4. Consult Configuration: If you have the necessary permissions, check the configuration settings in the Asset Accounting module to see if there are any restrictions that can be adjusted.
    5. Contact SAP Support: If the issue persists and you cannot find a resolution, consider reaching out to SAP support for further assistance.
