- Partial retirement or transfer of prior-yr acquis. not possible ?The SAP error message AA378 ("Partial retirement or transfer of prior-year acquisition not possible") typically occurs in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) module when you attempt to perform a partial retirement or transfer of an asset that has prior-year acquisitions. This error indicates that the system does not allow such operations on assets that have been fully depreciated or have prior-year transactions that affect their current status.
Causes:
- Prior-Year Transactions: The asset has acquisitions or transactions from previous fiscal years that prevent partial retirement or transfer.
- Depreciation Issues: The asset may have been fully depreciated, and the system does not allow further adjustments.
- Configuration Settings: The system settings or configuration may restrict partial retirements or transfers for certain asset types or under specific conditions.
Solutions:
Check Asset History: Review the asset history to identify any prior-year acquisitions or transactions that may be causing the issue. You can do this by navigating to the asset master record and checking the acquisition and depreciation history.
Full Retirement: If the asset is fully depreciated and you need to retire it, consider performing a full retirement instead of a partial one. This can be done by using the appropriate transaction code (e.g., ABAVN for asset retirement).
Adjustments: If there are prior-year acquisitions that need to be addressed, you may need to make adjustments or corrections to those transactions before proceeding with the partial retirement or transfer.
Consult Configuration: If the issue persists, consult with your SAP configuration team to review the settings related to asset retirement and transfers. They may need to adjust the configuration to allow for partial transactions under certain conditions.
