AA354
- Posting retirement only possible via revenue account ?The SAP error message AA354 ("Posting retirement only possible via revenue account") typically occurs in the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) module when you attempt to retire an asset without specifying a revenue account. This error is related to the way asset retirements are processed in SAP, particularly when it comes to the financial implications of retiring an asset.
Cause:
- Missing Revenue Account: The system requires a revenue account to be specified for the retirement posting. This is necessary because retiring an asset can result in a gain or loss, which needs to be recorded in the financial statements.
- Configuration Issues: The asset master record may not be properly configured to allow for the retirement posting. This includes settings related to the asset class and the associated accounts.
- Transaction Type: The transaction type used for the retirement may not be set up to allow for the posting of revenue accounts.
Solution:
Check Asset Master Record:
- Go to the asset master record (transaction code AS03) and ensure that the asset class is correctly configured to allow for retirements.
- Verify that the necessary accounts (e.g., revenue accounts) are assigned to the asset class.
Specify Revenue Account:
- When performing the retirement transaction (e.g., using transaction code ABAVN), ensure that you specify a revenue account in the relevant field. This is often done in the "Account Assignment" section of the transaction.
Review Configuration:
- Check the configuration settings for the asset class in the Asset Accounting module (transaction code OAOA). Ensure that the settings for retirement postings are correctly defined, including the assignment of revenue accounts.
Transaction Type Settings:
- Review the settings for the transaction type used for the retirement (transaction code OAYZ). Ensure that it is configured to allow for the posting of revenue accounts.
Consult Documentation:
- If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for further assistance. They may provide insights specific to your organization's configuration.
