  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 53661 - Error while inserting converted records for client & table & ?

The SAP error message 53661, which states "Error while inserting converted records for client & table &," typically occurs during data migration or data conversion processes, such as when using tools like the SAP Data Migration Workbench or during a system upgrade. This error indicates that there was an issue inserting records into a specific table for a particular client.

    Causes:

    1. Data Integrity Issues: The data being inserted may violate integrity constraints, such as primary key or foreign key constraints.
    2. Data Format Issues: The format of the data being inserted may not match the expected format for the target table.
    3. Missing Required Fields: Required fields in the target table may not be populated in the incoming data.
    4. Authorization Issues: The user performing the operation may not have the necessary authorizations to insert records into the specified table.
    5. Database Locking: The target table may be locked by another process, preventing the insertion of new records.
    6. Technical Issues: There may be underlying technical issues with the database or the SAP system itself.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Data Integrity: Review the data being inserted to ensure it adheres to all integrity constraints. This includes checking for duplicate records, ensuring foreign key relationships are maintained, and verifying that all required fields are populated.
    2. Validate Data Formats: Ensure that the data types and formats match the definitions in the target table. For example, date formats should be consistent with the expected format in SAP.
    3. Review Authorizations: Verify that the user executing the data migration has the necessary authorizations to perform the insert operation on the specified table.
    4. Check for Locks: Use transaction codes like SM12 to check for locks on the target table. If locks are found, you may need to wait for the locking process to complete or resolve the locking issue.
    5. Error Logs: Check the application logs (transaction SLG1) for more detailed error messages that can provide additional context about the failure.
    6. Test with Smaller Data Sets: If possible, try inserting a smaller subset of the data to identify if specific records are causing the issue.
    7. Consult SAP Notes: Look for relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide guidance on data migration issues.
