- There are links to info objects in non-production folders ?The SAP error message 42834, which states "There are links to info objects in non-production folders," typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP BI (Business Intelligence) environments. This error indicates that there are references or links to InfoObjects (like InfoCubes, DataStore Objects, etc.) that are located in non-production folders, which can lead to issues when trying to transport or activate objects in a production environment.
Cause:
- Non-Production Links: The primary cause of this error is that the InfoObjects being referenced are stored in non-production folders (like development or quality assurance) rather than in the production folder.
- Transport Issues: When attempting to transport objects from one environment to another (e.g., from development to production), SAP enforces rules to ensure that only production-ready objects are included in the transport request.
- Object Dependencies: The system detects that there are dependencies on objects that are not in the correct folder structure, which can lead to inconsistencies or errors in the production environment.
Solution:
- Check Object Links: Review the InfoObjects and their links to ensure that all referenced objects are located in the appropriate production folders.
- Move Objects: If necessary, move the InfoObjects from non-production folders to the production folder. This may involve re-creating or re-transporting the objects.
- Update Transport Requests: Ensure that the transport requests are correctly set up and do not include references to non-production objects.
- Use Transport Organizer: Utilize the Transport Organizer (transaction SE09 or SE10) to manage and check the transport requests for any inconsistencies.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to transport management and object dependencies for further guidance.
