  • What causes this issue?

Settings in Customizing (Document management -> Control data ->
Document link) determine that documents of type &V1& can only be linked
to this object on a 1:n basis.
This means, for example. that only <ZH>one</> material can be assigned
to a document of type &V1&. However, the same document can be assigned
to a number of other materials.
As this object is already assigned to another document of document type
&V1&, the document cannot be assigned.

    How to fix this error?

To find out which document of document type &V1& is already assigned to
    the object, choose function <ZH>Document -> Search</>.
If you are creating the assignment from the object (for example,
material), you see the document displayed in a list.
Decide which document is the one you want to assign the object to.
If appropriate, delete an existing assignment and enter the new one.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 26052 - Document type & only allows a 1:n assignment to & ?

The SAP error message 26052, which states "Document type & only allows a 1:n assignment to &," typically occurs in the context of document management or when dealing with document types in SAP. This error indicates that the system is trying to assign a document type to a document in a way that is not permitted by the configuration of that document type.

    Cause:

    1. Document Type Configuration: The document type in question is configured to allow only a one-to-many (1:n) relationship, meaning that it can only be assigned to a single instance of a document or object. If you attempt to assign it to multiple instances or in a way that violates this configuration, the error will occur.
    2. Incorrect Assignment: The error may also arise if there is an attempt to assign a document type to a document that is already associated with another document type or instance.
    3. Custom Development: If there are custom developments or enhancements in the system that manipulate document types, they may inadvertently lead to this error.

    Solution:

    1. Check Document Type Configuration: Review the configuration of the document type in question. Ensure that it is set up correctly to allow the intended assignments. You can do this by navigating to the relevant configuration settings in SAP.
    2. Review Assignment Logic: Check the logic or process that is attempting to make the assignment. Ensure that it adheres to the 1:n relationship defined for the document type.
    3. Adjust Document Type Usage: If the document type needs to support multiple assignments, consider changing its configuration to allow for that. This may involve working with your SAP Basis or configuration team.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the document type and its intended use.
    5. Debugging: If the issue persists, consider debugging the process to identify where the assignment is failing and why it is being treated as invalid.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You may need to use transaction codes like SPRO to access configuration settings or SE80 for debugging.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional context.
    • User Roles and Authorizations: Ensure that the user attempting the assignment has the necessary authorizations to perform the action.
    • Testing: After making changes, conduct thorough testing to ensure that the document type behaves as expected without triggering the error.

If the problem continues after following these steps, it may be beneficial to reach out to SAP support or consult with an SAP expert who can provide more tailored assistance based on your specific system configuration and requirements.
