  • Description: A number used in the United Kingdom for the administration of the National Insurance or social security system, with which an employee is uniquely identified. This number ensures that the National Insurance contributions and the tax paid by an employee is properly recorded on their account. Once issued, this number does not change during an employee's lifetime and is used on all correspondence between the employee and the authorities.

    A National Insurance Number (NIN) is a unique identifier used by the UK government to track an individual’s contributions to the National Insurance system. It is used to identify individuals for tax and social security purposes. In SAP, the NIN is stored in the SRD-HR-PAD HCM-Personnel Administration component. 
    
    How to use it: 
    In SAP, the NIN is stored in the SRD-HR-PAD HCM-Personnel Administration component. To enter a NIN, go to the Personnel Administration module and select “National Insurance Number” from the dropdown menu. Enter the NIN in the field provided and click “Save”. 
    
    Tips & Tricks: 
    When entering a NIN into SAP, make sure that all digits are entered correctly. If any digits are incorrect, it may cause errors when processing payroll or other transactions.
