What is disaggregation in SAP SCM-IBP - Integrated Business Planning?

SAP Term: disaggregation

  • Component: SCM-IBP

  • Component Name: Integrated Business Planning

  • Description: A function by which a key figure value on a high level is automatically broken down to the detailed level. For example, you define a key figure on the planning level representing the lowest level of detail base planning level, which has the attributes time period and location. You also define another planning level containing the attributes time period and region. The system can then disaggregate values of the key figure from the higher level of region, for example, to the level of location.

  • Key Concepts:
Disaggregation is a process in SAP SCM-IBP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) that allows users to break down a single demand plan into multiple components. This process helps to identify the underlying drivers of demand and provides more accurate forecasting. It also allows users to better understand the impact of changes in demand on the supply chain.

    How to use it:
In order to use disaggregation, users must first define the disaggregation structure. This structure should include the different components that will be used to break down the demand plan. Once the structure is defined, users can then use the disaggregation feature to break down the demand plan into its component parts. The resulting data can then be used to create more accurate forecasts and better understand the impact of changes in demand on the supply chain.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a disaggregation structure, it is important to consider how each component will affect the overall demand plan. For example, if one component is more volatile than another, it may be beneficial to break it down further in order to get a more accurate forecast. Additionally, it is important to consider how changes in one component may affect other components in the disaggregation structure.
