What is planning-relevant event in SAP SCM-APO-PPS - Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling?


SAP Term: planning-relevant event

  • Component: SCM-APO-PPS

  • Component Name: Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling

  • Description: Planning-relevant change that requires the adjustment of the planning. The event triggers an action in PP/DS. A planning-relevant event is, for example, a goods movement to a productor a change to the product master. As possible actions, the SAP APO system can call the product heuristic immediately for the product, or create a planning file entry.

    A planning-relevant event is an event that triggers a planning run in the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PPS) component of SAP's Supply Chain Management (SCM) application. It can be either an external event, such as a customer order, or an internal event, such as a change in the production plan. 
    
    How to use it: 
    When a planning-relevant event occurs, the PPS component will automatically initiate a planning run. This will update the production plan with the new information and adjust the production schedule accordingly. The user can also manually initiate a planning run at any time.

    It is important to understand which events are considered planning-relevant in order to ensure that the production plan is always up-to-date. It is also important to understand how to manually initiate a planning run if needed.
