What is planning-related offset in SAP SCM-APO-PPS - Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling?

SAP Term: planning-related offset

  • Component: SCM-APO-PPS

  • Component Name: Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling

  • Description: Determines the time interval between the requirement input node and the start of the activity in project manufacturing during scheduling with planning-related minimum intervals. The planning-related offset provides the planner with leeway in planning. In scheduling with heuristics, the planner can use the planning-related offset to increase the interval between the requirement and the start of the activity. The planning-related offset must lie before the offset, which is stored in the master data as the 'process-related' offset.

Smart SAP Assistant

  • Key Concepts:
Planning-related offset is a feature of the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PPS) component of SAP's Advanced Planner and Optimizer (APO). It allows users to adjust the planned production quantity of a material by a certain amount, or offset, in order to account for changes in demand or supply. This offset can be applied to either the planned order quantity or the planned order receipt.

    How to use it:
To use the planning-related offset feature, users must first create a planning book in the PPS component of APO. This planning book will contain all of the relevant data for the production plan, including the material, quantity, and date. Once this is done, users can then enter an offset value for each material in the planning book. This value will be used to adjust the planned production quantity accordingly.

    Tips & Tricks:
When using the planning-related offset feature, it is important to remember that it only affects the planned production quantity and not the actual production quantity. Therefore, it is important to ensure that any offsets entered are accurate and reflect any changes in demand or supply. Additionally, it is important to note that offsets can only be applied to materials that have already been planned in the planning book.

    Related Information:
For more information on using the planning-related offset feature in SAP's APO PPS component, please refer to SAP's official documentation on the topic. Additionally, there are many online resources available that provide detailed tutorials and examples of how to use this feature.
