  • Key Concepts:
A planning group is a collection of plants and/or warehouses that are grouped together for the purpose of planning. It is used in the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PPS) component of SAP's Supply Chain Management (SCM) application. The planning group allows for the aggregation of data from multiple plants and warehouses, which can then be used to create a single plan for the entire group.

    How to use it:
In order to create a planning group, the user must first define the plants and warehouses that will be included in the group. This can be done by selecting the relevant plants and warehouses from a list of available options. Once the plants and warehouses have been selected, they can then be assigned to a planning group. The user can then use this planning group to create a single plan for all of the plants and warehouses included in it.

    Tips & Tricks:
When creating a planning group, it is important to consider how the different plants and warehouses interact with each other. For example, if one plant produces a product that is used by another plant, it may be beneficial to include both plants in the same planning group so that they can be planned together. Additionally, it is important to consider how often the plans need to be updated, as this will determine how often the planning group needs to be updated.
